The 2025-26 season has featured breakout performances from freshmen Sergio Vega (141 lbs) and Dee Lockett (165 lbs), both undefeated at 8-0 and ranked nationally. The Cowboys also brought in key transfers including Richard Figueroa II, Casey Swiderski, Alex Facundo, Zack Ryder, and Gary Steen.
🗳️ STATE QUESTION 836 SIGNATURE DRIVE
Stillwater Residents Leading Grassroots Campaign
Stillwater residents Jenifer Bartley and Bobbi Bryson are among the grassroots volunteers gathering signatures for State Question 836, which would establish open primary elections in Oklahoma. The petition drive has until January 26, 2026 to collect 172,993 valid signatures.
The initiative would create a “top-two” primary system where all candidates appear on a single ballot regardless of party affiliation. The two candidates receiving the most votes would advance to the general election. This would apply to statewide offices, county positions, state legislators, and congressional candidates—but not judicial races, city offices, or presidential primaries.
“For Stillwater residents Jenifer Bartley and Bobbi Bryson, gathering signatures for State Question 836 is more than a passion—it’s what they said is a needed change for Primary Elections in Oklahoma,” according to the Stillwater News Press.
The proposal has generated fierce debate. Supporters, including former Republican state lawmaker AJ Griffin, argue it will increase voter participation and give independent voters a voice. Oklahoma Democratic Party Chair John Waldron supports the measure, saying “anything that gives voters more choice is a good idea.”
Opponents, led by Oklahoma Republican Party Chair Charity Linch, call it a “California-style power grab” that could dilute conservative values. “Oklahoma is the reddest state in the union,” Linch said. “We have the strongest conservative values, and I think we’ll lose our voice if we allow those with different values to decide who our candidates are.”
