Stillwater and multiple Oklahoma State University campus sites will commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a series of community events scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, featuring marches, educational programs, and service opportunities.
The annual observance of the civil rights leader’s legacy will bring together students, faculty, and community members across multiple locations throughout the region.
Stillwater Community March
Stillwater Community United will launch the local observance with a community march departing from the public library. The procession will conclude at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where participants will gather for an evening program centered on youth leadership and community dialogue.
OSU Main Campus Celebration
Oklahoma State University’s Stillwater campus will honor Dr. King’s life and legacy with a campus march on Tuesday. The event, which welcomes participation from both university affiliates and the broader community, will feature a procession across campus culminating in a ceremony at the university’s main library.
OSU-Oklahoma City: Day of Service
OSU-Oklahoma City will participate in the annual MLK OKC Coalition celebrations with a comprehensive day of service, reflection, and community engagement in downtown Oklahoma City.
The day begins with a complimentary lunch and Black history program at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral. Organizers have designed the schedule with flexibility in mind, allowing guests to participate in individual components or the full day of activities.
Participants are encouraged to “express their creativity and voice” during the downtown parade. Materials for creating personalized signs will be available, though pre-printed OSU-OKC signs will also be provided for those who prefer them.
Following the parade’s conclusion, an optional awards ceremony will be held for interested participants.
OSU-Tulsa: “New Day. Same Dream”
OSU-Tulsa will participate in the Tulsa Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade, embracing this year’s theme of “New Day. Same Dream.” The event welcomes OSU community members from across all campus locations.
The parade will traverse a route beginning at the historically significant intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and John Hope Franklin Boulevard, proceeding through the campus area before concluding at ONEOK Field, home of the Tulsa Drillers baseball team.
Participants are encouraged to display their Cowboy pride by wearing OSU orange or other university-themed attire during the procession.
